چکیده

Brinjal shoot and fruit borer (BSFB), Leucinodesorbonalis Guenee, is a devastating pest of brinjal (Solanummelongena L.) in all growing countries across the globe. Ten genotypes were evaluated against experimental field Khulna University, Bangladesh following arandomized block design with three replications. The BARI Hybrid Begun-2, Begun-4, BT-4, Begun-9 Begun-10, Local Cultivar-1, Cultivar-2, Cultivar- 3, Cultivar-4 Begun-4among ten genotypes, reduced infestation recorded local cultivar-1 Begun 2. On degree infestation, hybrid BT begun 4 appeared to be resistant while rest susceptible or highly susceptible. Volume index was documented high low cultivar shape 2 Begun-10. possessed greater meso pericarp thickness although those not resistant. Above all, using may considered as last resort inan optimized IPM package ensure maximum productivity.

Detection of genetic polymorphism in the populations of brinjal shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis (Guenee).

In the present study six different populations of L. orbonalis were collected and subjected to analysis of genetic variability in terms of carboxylesterase isozyme pattern and DNA polymorphism using RAPD-PCR. Pattern of carboxylesterase revealed a similar isozyme cluster in the populations namely, sivaganga (population-3), dindigal (population-4), virudhunagar (population-5) and coimbatore (pop...

Studies on shoot and leaf characters of brinjal plants and their quantitative relationships with brinjal shoot and fruit borer

The field experiment was conducted with twenty brinjal varieties/lines during October 2007 to May 2008 to identify shoot and leaf characteristics of brinjal plants for their susceptibility/resistance against brinjal shoot and fruit borer infestation. Borer infestation was influenced by different characters of plant shoot and leaf. Various parameters like plant height, stem diameter, number of b...
